FAQ's

Please find below a list of regularly asked questions and answers.  If you have any queries that is not listed or answered here, please feel free to contact us at hello@prettylittlekeepsakes.co.uk or use our contact us form, where we will be happy to help.
MY PRINTS ARE SMUDGED, WHAT CAN BE DONE?
Please don't worry.  If you have smudged your hand, feet or paw prints using the inkless method, then we will provide professional editing and a clean up of your prints before we begin to craft your piece.  If your prints are not clear enough for us to edit then we will contact you to let you know and help rectify this before crafting.  If you are using our fingerprint mould kit, we would require clear markings of the fingerprint to enable us to craft your piece.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO RECIEVE MY ITEM?
Once we have received your order (and prints if ordering a print item) we will begin crafting your piece for you.  Please refer to each products individual description for further details.
HOW CAN I SEND IN MY PRINTS TO YOU?
You can choose to receive one of our print kits, which are free with every purchase of our prints products, or if you already have your own prints, you may upload them via our photo uploader which is available on all print product pages. You can also send your prints in to us either via email to hello@prettylittlekeepsakes.co.uk or by post to Pretty Little Keepsakes, The Little Workshop, Number 25, Wigan, WN2 2PS .
IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT FOR PRINTS?
Hand, feet and paw prints can be take from newborns to adults.  However we would advise taking fingerprints from around the age of 12 months upwards due to development of fine markings and lines, that are more prominent on older children.  Children under the age of 12 months tend not to have developed strong enough fingerprint features to enable definition for crafting of these keepsakes.
CAN I AMEND MY ORDER?
Once we have received your order, we will begin the process of crafting your piece, so it is important to ensure your order is correct beforehand.  If you have made an error when ordering, please notify us as soon as possible where we will be able to advise if we can amend this or not for you.
WILL YOU RETURN MY PRINTS BACK TO ME?
Yes, we can return you prints back to you with your completed crafted order.  Please keep them safe as they can be used again for any future orders.
CAN I USE THE SAME PRINTS FOR MULTIPLE ORDERS?
Yes, you may wish to use the same prints when ordering multiple items from us.  Simply send us a message stating your wish to use the same prints and the products in which you would like them used for.

MY JEWELLERY HAS TARNISHED, WHAT CAN I DO?
If you find that your jewellery has tarnished, simply rub gently with a silver polishing cloth. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ENGRAVED AND HAND STAMPED?
We use various techniques when personalising and the way we can do this depends on the material used and size of each piece.  We will look at each piece individually and decide on the most suitable option that will create the best results.  On certain pieces we may be able to give you the option to select either hand stamped or engraved.  The difference between the two techniques offers different results.  When hand stamping we use special metal stamps to indent the personalisation.  This creates a raw handcrafted look and the outcome is different everytime due to the personalisation being done by hand.  There is also an option to blacken hand stamping with our special inks that set in the crevice of the imprint.  Engraving is more precise and is done by a special engraving machine.  The results from engraving are smoother and have a more polished finish to the personalisation.

Jewellery Size Guides

Please feel free to use our sizing guides when deciding on the appropriate length for your necklace, bracelet and bangle requirements.  Our guides are here as advisories only.

A GUIDE TO THE PERFECT NECKLACE LENGTH FOR YOU

This is a simple guide to show various necklace lengths based on the average neck size  To obtain the same look and position of your necklace on the neck, please take into consideration to increase the length for larger neck sizes and reduce the length for smaller neck sizes.

HOW TO MEASURE THE NECK TO FIT A CHAIN

Place a thin strip of paper or flexible tape measure around your neck and start the paper where you would like your necklace to sit.  Join the paper or tape till it meets the start point and then place a small mark on the paper, or simply hold the tape in-between your fingers at the meet point.  If using paper, you can then lie the paper flat and measure, or if using a tape measure you will immediately see the result in cm or inches at the point in-between your fingers.  Doing it this way will gauge a better result to the correct necklace length for you.  Take into consideration any pendants or charms that will be part of the necklace.  Lengths on products are normally for the chain only.  Necklaces may sit slightly lower if a pendant/charm is included.

MEASURING YOUR WRIST TO FIT A BRACELET

Wrap a tape measure around the wrist on which you plan to wear your bracelet. Make a note of the number at the point where the tape meets the 0. To ensure the bracelet fits comfortably, add 1.5 cm. You can then add or subtract centimeters according to whether you prefer a loose, exact or tight fit.  If you don;t have a flexible material or paper tape measure to hand, simply wrap a strip of paper around your wrist and mark off the paper where the beginning of the paper strip meets.  Then use a tape measure to measure the length in cm or inches (whichever your prefer to use)  Please allow approx 1.5cm extra if you prefer a loose fit.

MEASURING YOUR HAND TO FIT A BANGLE

Begin by folding your thumb across your hand as far as comfortably possible.  Then with your other hand take a flexible tape measure or slim piece of paper and wrap around the widest point of you folded hand.  This will allow the bangle to slide on comfortably and sit on the wrist without falling off once your hand is open again.  Hold the paper or measuring tape at the point the tape or paper meets from the start point.  If using paper, mark off with a pen and then measure.  If using a measuring tape, hold in-between your fingers where the tape meets the start point and you will see instant results in cm or inches.  If adding extra length for comfort, we would advise not too add too much length as this could result in the bangle becoming too large and could easily slip off the wrist.
